My dissertation was based around the Nazi oppression of Fine Art. The cover represents the censorship of the Arts under the Third Reich, but also the censorship of the Swastika in Germany after WWII. A red paper band, in the style of the Nazi armband, is wrapped around the cover and attached to the inside spine.
